Crystals That Blossomed From Christopher Columbus

How did this story start?

Our story began on October 12, 1492, when Christopher Columbus started out on his risky undertaking and found The Bahamas. He worked as a seaman and a maritime entrepreneur. Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer and initiated a journey; a journey that lead to a unique discovery. Who knew that the waters would lead to this destination of paradise?

Where did the name “The Bahamas” come from?

Initially, the Spaniards gave the 700 islands and cays the title “Bajar Mar” or shallow seas. It was a discovery like no other! I could just envision the sparkle in their eyes and the exhilaration that ignited in their hearts, as their collided with land. Can you just imagine a scenery so genuine; a scenery virgin and untouched?

What did Christopher Columbus come for?

Now, I must simply state the plain truth, Christopher Columbus was “tingsy!” He came to The Bahamas in search of gold, spices, treasure and a new route to India. The first island he made landfall on was San Salvador. Some argue that it was Cat Island. Christopher later found “Guanahani” or Long Island. After Christopher Columbus arrived, he was in quite a shock. He came across a group of Lucayans and later called them Indians. These Lucayans were relatively primitive and had no written language. Mr. Columbus was in a “jammy!” If it was any other Bahamian, they would have said, “Christopher wybe mash!”

Whenever I talk about the Bahamas and its beauty, I could never stop talking about my God, who has given us all of this beauty.

I have a place that I get to go to in the Bahamas. It’s the only place that guarantees total anonymity and freedom.

I’ll never forget the modelling shoot I did in the Bahamas on a pink sand beach at Harbour Island. It felt like I’d just landed in paradise; it was so beautiful. Olga Kurylenko
